Gadget Desk: After the Supreme Court order on the support card, the government has made it clear that no longer need the Aadhaar number to buy a new SIM card. Now the Department of Telecommunications has ordered all telecom operators to start a new Aadhaar e-KYC service and limited KYC for registration of new SIM cards.

This rule will also apply to the re-verification of existing mobile users and it will start from July 1. Telecom operators have been instructed to make their systems ready for virtual IDs before July 1. It is worth mentioning that Virtual ID and Limited KYC are only part of both support, but the difference is that the system does not disclose the base number of the person. Only the information required is shared with the telecom operator. The special thing is, if you have a support card and you do not want to share your support number, you can buy a new SIM by virtual ID. NRIs and foreigners who do not have a support number can get a new mobile SIM by another ID proof issued by the government.

How many sim users get the maximum?

In May last year, the government approved the use of e-SIM in the country. The Department of Telecom has declared the guidelines. Telecom operator information can be updated on e-SIM in mobile. Apart from this, maximum limit of SIM connection per customer has been increased from 9 to 18. It can use 9 SIMs for normal mobile services and the remaining 9 in machine-to-machine communication like dongle or smartwatch.
